awa news Qld Branch News AWA Queensland Awards Program 2011 Each year the Australian Water Association celebrates and recognises individuals and organisations that have made a significant contribution towards the water industry. This year the QLD Awards presentation will be held in conjunction with the Annual Gala Dinner on 22 July. This is the premium event on our events calendar with over 500 attendees expected. The Queensland awards program includes four categories with 10 awards, out of some of which the winners will be automatically nominated for a corresponding national award*. ACT Branch News New elections The ACT Branch of the AWA recently elected their new President, Simon Webber -- Actew/ Bulk Water Alliance Project Manager Murrumbidgee to Googong Water Transfer and Vice President, Kimberly Lippmeier, Engineer, Water Treatment, ActewAGL and Stromlo WTP. NSW Branch News The NSW Branch held it first event for 2011 and once again was honoured with the presentation of the Peter Cullen Scholarship. The 2011 winner of the scholarship is Daniela Cortez, from the University of Technology Sydney. Members of the late Peter Cullen's family along with representatives from funding bodies and the Wentworth Group were in attendance to congratulate Daniela. This study will assist in the development of our understanding of the ecology of unregulated coastal rivers during low flow periods.
